Não, não uma meditação sobre a história desta Epifânia acima ,  entretanto...  de sua homônima. 

Epifania significa aparição, manifestação e vem do grego “epiphanéia.” Epifania também pode ser conceituada no sentido filosófico, significando uma sensação profunda de realização no sentido de compreender a essência das coisas, tudo que pode estar no âmago das coisas ou das pessoas, isto é, poder considerar que a partir de agora sente como solucionado, completado, aquilo que estava tão difícil de conseguir.

Epifania pode ser um pensamento iluminado, uma inspiração que parece ser coisa de Deus, como que somente ele seria capaz de pensar tal coisa. Os ingleses costumam utilizar muito este termo dizendo: “I just had an epiphany” como eu tive um pensamento indescritível, único.

Desde a antiguidade os homens buscam iluminação.  Alguma coisa que lhes conceda uma percepção maior, um conhecimento oculto ou a compreensão de fatos, alguns obscuros. A compreensão dos problemas, a resposta a questões éticas, sociais, médicas, matemáticas.  Que possa conceder vantagens na guerra.  Um general Romano ou grego não ousaria entrar num campo de batalha sem que tivesse a sua disposição a palavra de um oráculo onde buscava uma epifania.

Epiphany means appearance , manifestation and comes from the Greek " epiphaneia . " Epiphany can also be conceptualized in the philosophical sense , meaning a deep sense of accomplishment in order to understand the essence of things , of all that can be at the heart of things or people, this is deemed to have from now feels like solved , completed what was so difficult to achieve .

Epiphany can be an enlightened thought , an inspiration that seems to be a thing of God, as only he would think such a thing . The British tend to use this term very telling : " I just had an epiphany " as I had an indescribable , unique thought .

Since ancient times men seek enlightenment. Something to grant them greater insight , a hidden knowledge or understanding of facts , some obscure . Means The understanding of the problems , the answer for ethical and social and medical and mathematical questions . Means what might give an advantage in the war . A Roman or Greek general would not dare enter a battlefield without having at their disposal the word of an oracle where he sought an epiphany .

No filme 300 vemos a versão romanceada de um consulta a uma sacerdotisa – pithoniza - do oráculos de Delphos. Um dos mais antigos registros de arte divinatória com consulta a um feiticeiro que existe está registrado nas escrituras hebraicas. Um rei moabita pede socorro a um feiticeiro renomado do oriente, de nome Balaão.  E pela primeira vez na história um bruxo será forçado a falar de modo contrário a todas as suas práticas de necromancia. Deixando de lado os ritos da antiguidade ele renega maldições que fora pago para emitir para receber uma nova epifania. Contratado originalmente para amaldiçoar através de sortilégios mágicos e malignos aos israelitas que se aproximavam de Canaã, Balaão é encostado na parede da inspiração divina.

Vendo Balaão que parecia bem aos olhos do Senhor que abençoasse a Israel, não foi, como era costume, ao encontro dos encantamentos, mas voltou o rosto para o deserto.

E, levantando Balaão os olhos, viu a Israel que se achava acampado segundo as suas tribos; e veio sobre ele o Espírito de Deus.

Então proferiu Balaão a sua parábola, dizendo: Fala Balaão, filho de Beor; fala o homem que tem os olhos abertos;

fala aquele que ouve as palavras de Deus, o que vê a visão do Todo-Poderoso, que cai, e se lhe abrem os olhos:

A pupila dos olhos humanos se dilata diante de coisas que são de grande interesse.

É celebre o mito Uma das histórias mais conhecidas a respeito de Arquimedes é a da "Coroa de ouro de Hierão":

“Quando Hierão reinava em Siracusa, decidiu oferecer uma coroa de ouro aos deuses imortais. Contratou um  artesão que, mediante uma boa soma em dinheiro e a entrega da quantidade de ouro necessária, se encarregou da sua confecção.  O artesão entregou a coroa na data combinada com o Rei. Porém, apesar de a considerar executada com perfeição, este duvidou que contivesse todo o ouro que tinha entregue  e suspeitou que o artesão tivesse substituído uma parte desse ouro por prata.

Para comprovar a sua suspeita, o rei encarregou Arquimedes de, com a sua inteligência, encontrar uma forma de provar a fraude... Um dia em que Arquimedes, preocupado com este assunto, foi tomar banho, percebeu que à medida que entrava na banheira, a água transbordava. Subitamente, esta observação fez-lhe descobrir o que procurava. Ficou tão contente que saíu do banho e correu para a rua a gritar: Eureka! Eureka! (encontrei! encontrei!)

Com base numa ideia revolucionária pegou em duas massas com o mesmo peso que o da coroa, uma de ouro e outra de prata.  Mergulhou a massa de prata numa taça cheia de água e mediu a água que transbordou. Retirou então esta massa, voltou a encher a taça, mergulhou a massa de ouro e voltou a medir a água que saiu. Com esta experiência pôde verificar que a massa de ouro não fez transbordar tanta água como a de prata e que a diferença entre as quantidades de águia deslocadas era igual à diferença entre os volumes da massa de ouro e da massa de prata em igual peso.

Lembramos a Bat-epifania quando o Comissário Gordon descobre a identidade de Bruce Wayne através da pista de que uma pessoa pode ser um herói por colocar um casaco nos ombros de um garotinho...o garotinho era o pequeno Bruce Wayne após a morte dos pais e o policial que o socorre é justamente o jovem Gordon (para quem não entender a nerdice da referencia)

Os povos da antiguidade ansiavam as epifanias e as buscavam nas mais diversas fontes, tais como oráculos, artes divinatórias e sacerdotes.  A epifania é um termo que designa de modo tosco as realidades que são trazidas de um modo supranatural como no caso dos profetas do Velho testamento. Neles nos a epifania era plena. Inaudita e perturbadora. Daniel vê o futuro humano percorrendo as distancias do tempo diante de seus olhos.  Moisés ouve coisas e vê coisas de um tempo além do tempo e de uma dimensão desconhecida pelo ser humano. Em Cristo a epifania é revestida de ouro e de joias preciosas.  Aquilo que diz é tão pleno de sabedoria divina que poucos trechos de suas palavras foram capazes de criar religiões diversas pelo mundo inteiro por cerca de 2000 anos. 

A palavra “renascimento” era jargão comum e doutrina dos tempos apostólicos, desde que um sábio de nome Nicodemos questionou a Jesus sobre o significado da vida espiritual.  Jesus entendia que a epifania escondida na sua doutrina era tão poderosa que os que nele cressem se conheceriam como “nascidos de novo”. Renascidos. Essa era a loucura da proposta por detrás das palavras do evangelho. Um maravilhamento capaz de transformar a própria essência do ser humano.

O apóstolo Paulo teve a epifania que mudou sua vida quando, literalmente, inclusive é a cena que dá origem á expressão - caiu do cavalo - na altura de Damasco à época em que ansiava apedrejar cristãos dos quais se tornaria, em virtude do maravilhamento, um de seus maiores mestres.

Durante o ministério de Cristo, guardas gregos, do templo de Jerusalém, acostumados com a retórica dos oradores romanos que aperfeiçoaram a arte dos gregos, voltaram ao Sinédrio – grupo da alta corte judaica da época – de mãos abanando, boquiabertos e quando questionados sobre a desobediência das ordens concedidas pelo sumo sacerdote da ocasião – não haviam capturado ao nazareno – respondem ainda trêmulos pelo que haviam ouvido:

- Homem algum jamais falou como aquele homem!

Eram gatos que tinham provado do Iogurte.

A equipe da base em Houston sabia que a Apolo 13 possuía  diversos problemas já na viagem de ida, causadas por uma explosão de um dos tanques de oxigênio e perda de parte das capacidades elétricas do módulo.  A 13 de Abril de 1970, a colisão da Apollo 13 com um meteorito provocou a explosão dos tanques de oxigénio que garantiam o funcionamento do equipamento de manutenção de vida no módulo de comando da nave. Ao cabo de quase 56 horas no espaço, ficaram imediatamente comprometidas as condições de sobrevivência no interior do aparelho.

Mattingly conhecia a fundo as especificidades técnicas da missão e acompanhou, na base, em Houston, as operações de salvamento dos colegas. Perante os perigos associados ao incidente, Mattingly deu instruções precisas para que fossem transferidos para o módulo lunar, até que estivesse garantido o regresso à Terra no módulo de comando, com as mínimas condições de sobrevivência. Este é um facto pouco mencionado nas várias pesquisas sobre a história da Apollo 13, mas que, para Rui Agostinho, director do Observatório Astronómico de Lisboa,  foi decisivo para o regresso seguro da missão à Terra. Horas de ar até que os seus tripulantes morressem no espaço quando a equipe de engenheiros que trabalhou no projete espalhou pedaço por pedaço dos utensílios que os astronautas tinham na astronave dizendo:

- Criem um filtro de dióxido de carbono dessas coisas. E de modo que possamos ensinar a fazer via rádio.  E conseguiram.

A epifania é filha de outras realidades e sobre todas elas sobressai a Inspiração divina.

A epifania da alma causa maravilhamento, o mesmo tipo que causa coisas novas diante dos olhos da criança, similar ao deslumbramento diante de novas descobertas pelo cientista. A alma humana anseia a epifania. E a todas as suas parentes próximas. Não podemos deixar de assimilar as pequenas epifanias sonoras, táteis, no campo dos sentimentos e das sensações. A descoberta de sabores novos, quando o paladar descobre extasiado pela primeira vez o gosto de um novo manjar. Quando sentimos um aroma que jamais será esquecido.  Talvez a epifania ganhe outros apelidos ou ecoe de outro modo ao passar pelo tecido da condição humana.  O amor e a descoberta da paixão. A primeira vez que a moça descobre que está apaixonada.
